FirstJob, Inc. (“FirstJob”) is committed to protecting the privacy of its users, and seeks to provide a safe and secure user experience. FirstJob will use its best efforts to ensure that the information submitted remains private, and is only used for the purposes set forth herein.

This page states the FirstJob Privacy Policy (“Policy”) and sets forth the collection, use, and disclosure practices that apply to the FirstJob Website and FirstJob Services. The Policy also incorporates by reference the First Job Terms of Use, which applies to this Policy.

By registering or using this website, you explicitly accept, without limitation or qualification, the collection, use, and transfer of personal information provided by you in the manner described in this Policy. Please read the Policy carefully as it affects your rights and liabilities. If you disagree with the way we collect and process personal information, please do not use the FirstJob Website and FirstJob Services.


(a) “FirstJob Website(s)” mean any websites, web pages, and any subpages under FirstJob’s control, whether partial or otherwise. This includes but is not limited to, any subpages, and the website from which this Policy was accessed from. This also includes the contents of the FirstJob Websites, which includes but is not limited to text, images, audio content, videos, designs, graphics, information, logos, downloadable content, software, and any other content found on the FirstJob Website.

(b) “FirstJob Service(s)” mean the services featured on the FirstJob Website, including but not limited to an online service to post and search for employment opportunities. These services also include but are not limited to the creation of individual profile pages, the ability to make such profiles public, and the participation in an online community designed to facilitate valuable professional and personal networking among users of the FirstJob Websites based on common experiences and interests.

(c) “Post” means information that you submit, publish, or display on the FirstJob Website.

(d) “You,” “Your,” and “User” mean and refer to all individuals and/or entities who are accessing the FirstJob Websites for any reason.


Please take note that the FirstJob Website is currently in a testing phase and undergoing testing. The purpose of this testing phase is to obtain feedback and perform testing on the FirstJob Website’s features and performance, and to identify any defects or inconsistencies in its functionality. FirstJob will determine the length and scope of its testing phase, and has sole control as to who may access and use the FirstJob Website.

During this testing phase, FirstJob may make regular changes to the FirstJob Website, and that at times, stability, functionality, and reliability may not be optimal. As a User during this phase, You therefore recognize that there may be times where You encounter problems such as loss of data, crashes, or other errors. You acknowledge such risks and will not hold FirstJob or any of its agents, employees, or other individuals associated with FirstJob liable for any consequences that may arise through the use of the FirstJob Website.


This policy applies to the FirstJob Website and FirstJob Services. The policy regulates the processing of information relating to You.

The FirstJob Websites contain links to other websites over which we have no control. FirstJob is not responsible for the privacy policies or practices of such other websites. We also do not control the data use practices of employers and third party advertising networks.


(a) Personal Information. You are not required to provide personal information to perform job searches or use the FirstJob Websites. However, we may collect general information about all of our Users collectively when they visit the FirstJob Website and when they provide such personal information to us, whether through the creation of the profile page, through the importing of information from third party websites such as LinkedIn or Facebook, or through other methods. We also may acquire personal information from third parties who provide it to us.

(b) Behavioral Information. We may collect behavioral information regarding how You use our websites and mobile applications, the areas of the website You visit, what services You use, and information about Your computer hardware and software. This includes but is not limited to Your Internet Protocol (IP) address, location, browser, access times, operating system, and referring website addresses. This information is used to analyze the use of resources, prevent fraud, troubleshoot, and also to improve our services. We also may acquire behavioral information from third parties who provide it to us.

(c) Information Provided by Prospective Employees. FirstJob is a career-related website, and You may post Your resume in the FirstJob database to be viewed or searched by prospective employers. If You do so, all individuals with access to the resume database will be able to see and access Your resume. You may also have the option of creating a profile page for Your account. Prospective employers will have the option to view Your profile page, but they will not have the option to view Your contact information unless You select that option granting permission. In applying for jobs, the employer who receives the application may also view the network connections that the applicant has at the employing company if the applicant has enabled this option and imported information from LinkedIn, Facebook, or other third party websites.

(d) Information Provided by Prospective Employers. If You are an employer or recruiter, You may also post Your company information or other job-posting information in the FirstJob database to be searched by prospective individuals seeking employment. If You do so, all individuals with access to such information will be able to see and access the information.

(e) Information Imported from LinkedIn and Facebook. Users may have the ability to import their personal information, profile pages, or other information from various third party websites such as LinkedIn and Facebook. FirstJob is not directly affiliated with such third party websites, and is not responsible for the acts of such third parties. Users acknowledge and understand that they may import information from such third party websites at their own risk.


(a) Use by FirstJob. Unless otherwise stated, FirstJob does not disclose personal information or other information related to Your use of the FirstJob Website or FirstJob Services to any third parties. Any information obtained through the FirstJob Website is used for the purposes of providing FirstJob Services, responding to any inquiries, operating the website, improving the website, creating a positive User experience, and delivering any products and services offered to employers and job seekers.

By using the FirstJob Website and FirstJob Services, You have consented for us to use, without limitation to the following, Your information: (1) to allow You to create an account, (2) to create a profile page based on the information provided, (3) to contact You about FirstJob services and updates, (4) to provide You with additional information and promotions such as career advice or newsletters, (5) to enable You to provide feedback and for us to respond to the feedback, (6) to conduct surveys, promotions, and contests, and to provide the results thereof, (7) to generate internal reports, and (8) to provide network products and services.

(b) Use by Third Parties. If You create a profile page or post Your personal information in public areas of the FirstJob Website, then Your information may be viewed and visible to other individuals using the FirstJob Website, with the exception of Your contact information, which may be viewed only if You select the option granting permission.

(c) Disclosure to Third Parties. We may share Your information with third parties who help us in the delivery of our products and services. We disclose information to third parties we employ to perform functions on our behalf. We may also disclose information to third parties if You consent to such disclosure, whether through the FirstJob Website or otherwise. We may also share aggregate anonymous information about visitors to the FirstJob Websites to various third parties. We also disclose information if legally required to do so or at our request pursuant to a request from a governmental entity. We may also disclose information if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect Your safety, protect the safety of others, or to investigate fraud.

We may aggregate on an anonymous basis data regarding job qualifications, educational background, age, experience level, and other relevant job search information. Such aggregate anonymous information may be made available to third parties as well.

(d) Successors. We may disclose and transfer any information to a third party who acquires any or all of FirstJob’s assets and business units, whether such acquisition is by merger, consolidation, or purchase of all or a substantial portion of FirstJob’s assets. In addition, in the event FirstJob becomes the subject of an insolvency proceeding, whether voluntary or involuntary, FirstJob or its liquidator, administrator, receiver or administrative receiver may dispose of such information in a transaction approved by the court.


(a) Uploaded Information and Documents. When You upload or post information, resumes, or other documents onto the FirstJob Website, these things are stored in our internal database. You can control the status of Your uploaded information and documents by setting all of it (or parts of it) to private or public. You may also remove Your information and documents from the FirstJob website at any time. If Your information and documents are set as private, it is not searchable or viewable by potential employers or others with access to the database. You may still use Your information and documents to apply online to jobs. Before You make any changes to Your profile, information, or documents, we reserve the right to verify and authenticate Your identity.

(b) Retention and Distribution By Third Parties. If You do apply online to a job, Your information and documents may be transferred to a relevant employer, who may retain a copy of it and distribute it further. They may do this even if You have deleted Your information and documents from the FirstJob Website. We cannot control their use or retention of such information and documents. By making Your information and documents searchable and applying to jobs through the FirstJob Website, You are expressly consenting to such transfers of data. If Your searchable information and documents are public, they may be accessed by any and all individuals who have access to the FirstJob Website. Accordingly, You should be cautious about putting sensitive information or other information You do not want to be made public on Your resume or in public areas of the FirstJob Website.

(c) References. If You posted or uploaded details of a reference, it is Your responsibility to ensure that the person is aware that You have forwarded and posted his or her details and has consented in writing for You to do so.

(d) Inactivity. If You are a job seeker with a public resume and have not logged onto the FirstJob Website or used the FirstJob Services for an extended period, we may make Your resume unsearchable. Separately and regardless of Your privacy settings, if You do not log into Your account for an extended period of time, Your account may expire and be schedule for deletion. Our current expiration and deletion period is at least five (5) years, and we may notify You by email prior to any deletion of Your account.

(e) Consent. If You do not want Your information to be processed, collected, and protected as described in this policy, You revoke Your consent to our policy. If You do withdraw Your consent, You will not be able to use relevant FirstJob Services and Your account will be deleted.


(a) Security Measures. You are responsible for ensuring that Your log-in credentials (i.e. username, password, security questions) are kept confidential. The security of Your personal information is important to us. FirstJob follows generally accepted industry standards and has implemented specific technical measures designed to secure Your personal information from unauthorized access, use, alternation, and disclosure, as well as accidental loss. Despite such measures, FirstJob cannot guarantee that unauthorized third parties on the Internet or otherwise will not be able to defeat those measures or use Your personal information for improper purposes. You acknowledge that to maximize Your career opportunities, it may be necessary to publish and share certain personal information. The nature of the service itself poses an inherent risk that unauthorized third parties may view and use Your information. For example, You should be aware that resumes may be monitored by Your current employer. No method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is perfectly and 100% secure. As such, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

(b) Online Payments. If You place any orders or make any payments online through the FirstJob Websites, Your credit card information will be and is protected by encryption, such as with the Secure Socket Layer (“SSL”) protocol. The SSL protocol makes it difficult for Your credit card information to be stolen or intercepted during transmission. FirstJob also uses a service company to process its credit card transactions. (a) Updates. If we decide to make substantial and material changes or updates to the substance of the Policy, we may contact You (when required) via the email address that You maintain in Your profile. We will also post those changes through a prominent notice on the FirstJob Website so that You will know what information we gather, how we might use that information, and to whom we will disclose it.

(b) Contact Information. Your information, documents, and other data are submitted to FirstJob’s servers. These servers are situated in the United States and maintained by FirstJob, whose principal place of business is 637 Natoma Street #4, San Francisco, CA 94103. If You have any questions or concerns regarding this Policy or believe that they have not been adhered to, please contact FirstJob at this address. FirstJob will use reasonable efforts to answer any questions and resolve any problems.


(a) Safe Harbor. FirstJob complies with the U.S.-EU Safe Harbor Framework and the U.S.-Swiss Safe Harbor Framework as set forth by the U.S. Department of Commerce regarding the collection, use, and retention of personal information from European Union member countries and Switzerland. FirstJob has certified that it adheres to the Safe Harbor Privacy Principles of notice, choice, onward transfer, security, data integrity, access, and enforcement.

(b) California Law. Under California law, California residents may request and receive information about a business’ disclosure of certain personal information to other companies for direct marketing purposes. Upon receipt of such request, the business is required to provide a list of all third parties to whom personal information was disclosed in the preceding calendar year, as well as a list of the categories of personal information that were disclosed. However, a business is not required to provide these lists if the business adopts and discloses to the public in its privacy policy a policy of not disclosing its User’s personal information to third parties for direct marketing purposes unless the User first affirmatively agrees to the disclosure. As stated above, we notify You, through this privacy policy, of Your right to prevent the disclosure of personal information. We do not share information or documents with third parties for their direct marketing purposes unless You affirmatively agree to such disclosure.

(c) Cookies. A cookie is a small text file stored, often temporarily, on Your computer’s memory or placed on Your hard drive by a Webpage server. Cookies allow FirstJob to retrieve the information previously provided, so that You can easily use the features that You customized. Cookies allow for faster, more accurate, and more personalized results. FirstJob may use cookies, both session and persistent, to help personalize and maximize Your experience in using FirstJob Services and FirstJob Websites. You have the ability to accept or decline cookies at any time by modifying Your Internet browser settings. We have no access or control over third party cookies.

(d) Page Tags and Web Beacons. FirstJob Website may utilize electronic images called page tags (or web beacons, clear gifs, action tags, single-pixel gifts) that allow FirstJob to collect webpage usage information. These page tags are not used to access or collect personal information, but rather to inform us what content is effective. Page tags are techniques to compile aggregate statistics about webpage usage to improve the effectiveness of our services and advertisements. The information collected by the page tags may be shared with third parties for processing, so that they can understand the kinds of visitors to the websites and how those visitors use the webpages. Page tags may be rendered ineffective by changing the cookie setup options in Your Internet Browser.

(e) JavaScript. JavaScript is a script or programming language that enhances the functionality of websites, often for pictures. FirstJob does not collect personal data via Javascript, and it can be deactivated via the User’s Internet browser settings.

(f) Headings. Headings provided in this Policy are included for reference purposes only and are not to be given any substantive effect.

(g) Effective Date. This Policy is effective as of July 17, 2012.
